How would I transfer old xbox data to the new 250Gb Xbox?

I know that the 250GB hasn’t hit stores yet, but I’m intending to buy one before I go off to University.

From what I’ve read & seen, the new “Xbox Slim” has a completely different HDD, so I was wondering is there a way I can transfer my data from my old Xbox to this new one?

  1. As long as your 360 has the update that lets it use USB flash drives, then a USB flash drive can be used like any other memory card or hard drive, so you can transfer your profile, saves and DLC to it and then to your new console.

    If you have more than 16 GB worth of stuff, then you’ll either have to use more than one USB drive, or you’ll need to pick up a Transfer cable and use that to plug your current 360’s hard drive into your new Slim and transfer that way.

  2. Microsoft will make transfer cables available at retail stores.

    You will be able to connect your HardDrive through the transfer cables and restore everything you had on that HDD to the new HDD.

    HDD = HardDrive
