How much is 256 MB of memory?

I just bought an xbox 360 aracde on ebay and was wondering how the 256 MB of memory would allow me to do. I don’t really care about being able to play online, but would like to save stuff like Madden franchises and the like on it. I’d like to know if I need to get an external hardware thing to be able to do these things.

  1. well, it will allow lots of stuff but you may use up all the memory but no you wont need any hardware or other stuff

  2. take it back and buy a real console like. a PS3 that has a built in hard drive.

They are almost the same price.

  3. Not really much actually. 256MB will end in a few days. You won’t be able to download demos off XBL, nor will u be able to download extra content (DLC) for games. It’s better to have a HDD with it. Search ebay for 1 as you can get it cheap.

    HDD IS necessary trust me.

  4. To put it in perspective, I have a 64 mb memory card with maybe 6-8 different saved games on it, plus my Xbox Live profile, which in total comes out to about 50 mb used.

As long as you ONLY plan on using your memory to save games (and accounts), then you should be fine with 256 mb. Saved games are different sizes for different games, but they will usually be a few mb at most. I have seen saved games which are 64 kb (1/16 of a mb), but some are also as much as 10 mb. You should be able to save multiple Madden saves onto the memory card no problem, but don’t expect to download videos or games or demos, because then you will run out of storage fast. if they even fit.

If in the future, you decide you want to download games and such, then you can buy a hard drive later. For now, 256 mb should be fine for what you plan to do.
